Greenhouses in Ireland
Alitex have been supplying Victorian greenhouses to Ireland for over ten years with projects ranging from over 500,000 Euros down to 5,000 Euros. We are lucky enough to have been involved in constructing greenhouses in all the provinces and one of the most prestigious was at Belvedere House and Gardens in County Meath.

The greenhouse was part of a much bigger project; namely to restore the Belvedere Estate to its former glory – the key being faithful reproduction of all the original features. Funded jointly by the Great Gardens of Ireland Restoration Scheme and the European Regional Development Fund the project was managed by Kevin Halpenny of Fingal Borough Council.
After considerable research the project team discovered that Alitex were uniquely placed to reproduce the original timber Thomas Messenger glasshouse dating from the late 1800’s.
Kevin Halpenny explains: “As Alitex had spent 53 years developing a glasshouse glazing system in aluminium which truly replicated the Thomas Messenger system from the 19th C the decision to use Alitex was relatively straightforward.”
The glasshouse was officially opened in 2001 by Mary Robinson, President of Ireland.
